My Summer Essentials + $50 Gift Card Giveaway

Being pregnant in the Phoenix summer is no walk in the park!  The temps are around 100 degrees of dry heat and then monsoon comes you have humid heat at high temps. URGH!!  Can we say swollen feet and just HOT all the time?  Around this time of the season, I make sure I stock up on summer essentials that increase my comfort level inside and out.  My favorite place to stock up is Sprouts Farmers Market.  They have their Vitamin Extravaganza promotion (July 26-August 2) which saves you 25 percent off regular retail nutritional supplements and body care items.   I’ll be sharing with you some of my favorite summer essentials from Sprouts.

Inside Out

I believe that beauty and health start from within.  I’ve been diligently and almost obsessively taking prenatal vitamins during my pregnancy.  If you have ever taken these types of vitamins, you would know how BIG these pills are.  I researched an alternative and found SmartyPants VitaminsTheir prenatal complete gummies contain Omega Fish Oil, folate, iodine, vitamin D, and vitamin B12.  You have to eat 6 per day but I honestly don’t mind it since they taste so good.  Each bottle contains three delicious flavors with no synthetic colors, no artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives, or any other junk.  Vitamins are NOT cheap so the sale is definitely a time when I stock up on these yummy and essential vitamins!

Outside In

My day job requires a lot of driving, walking and basically more physical activity than I want, especially in the blazing heat.  My feet get pretty swollen from the pregnancy and the heat so any type of relaxation at home is a MUST.  I start by soaking my body in the Sprouts Sleep Formula Epsom Salt.  It soothes my tired and aching muscles and promotes a better nights sleep (Baby Zoe has been moving around a lot).  What I love about this product is that you can use it in three ways: bath (soak for 20 minutes), shower (use to exfoliate skin) or foot soak (mix with warm water and soak feet for 10 minutes).  After the soak, I take a shower with my favorite body wash Jason Calming Lavender.  It has an amazing scent and leaves my skin feeling nourished and soft.  It’s important to moisturize after a shower, so I use the Jason Calming Lavender Hand & Body Lotion next.  The last and most important essential that I use on my body is the Badger Pregnant Belly Oil in Rose & Vanilla.  I am FREAKED out about stretch marks so I hydrate my belly as much as possible.

Top Tips To Stay Fighting Fit

When you’re determined to stay fit and healthy, illness really can get in the way. Whether it’s a cough and sniffle, or something more long term, feeling poorly stops us in our tracks. We want to stay motivated to keep up with an exercise and diet program. But getting sick often leaves us heading to bed for days at a time, and comfort eating those foods we shouldn’t touch.

It’s not a good idea to give in to illness. Viruses and infections certainly need time and rest for your body to overcome. But heading to bed may not be the best idea. Your body still needs fresh air, and you still need your circulation to keep moving. Gentle exercise with plenty of rest is best. Laying in bed can leave you feeling worse.

5 Convincing Reasons to Start Working Out Now

5 Convincing Reasons to start working out

1. To get more energy

I know what you’re thinking, “how can I get energy from working out when I use my energy to work out?” Well here’s your answer.  Doing a workout during the day can actually improve your sleep.  And more sleep equals more energy for the next day. Boom, pow!

2. For your heart

What is the leading cause of death these days? According to the CDC, it’s heart disease! Exercising helps burns calories, helps your blood pressure, lowers LDL (bad)cholesterol,  and boosts your HDL (good) cholesterol.

3. For your family

Whether you have kids or four legged friends, exercising regularly will help you stay around longer.  Living an active and healthy lifestyle also encourages those around you to follow suit.  There are also many health benefits of owning a dog.

4.  To get the sexy back

Life gets busy.  Life can get dysfunctional.  I get it! But there’s no time like NOW to get your sexy back (*cue Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back”).

5. For you

The most important REASON of all is YOU!  YOU deserve to be healthy, YOU deserve to live a happy life, YOU deserve to look good, and YOU deserve to feel good.
